How to add internal GPS & 3G WWAN U2010 U820

I Sold my U820 last week instead of the U2010,
my mate really wanted the GPS so he ended up buying my U820 instead of my U2010 which is what i offered to sell to him,
2 good things he let me keep the XP recovery CD's
and gave me a good price
so cant complain...

Now adding GPS to your U2010,

First thing if you want to buy the original module,
then you can,
it will fit and the connector are on the motherboard,

First Test i used a pcie to usb/sata adapter,
this did work without any problems,
Used a cheap USB GPS stick,
once outer casing was removed i manage to fit inside,
but signal quality was VERY poor,
( i was using a cheap usb gps stick bought for £20 of ebay so a decent one might work better),

2nd Test,
I bought a MC8781 for my Dell,
but decided to try it out on the U2010 first,
i know most think this wont work,
but in fact this does work,
only thing you cant use is the 3G network hence no sim card,
anyway this card will mainly be used for the GPS,
once the card was installed,
i started up the U2010 and the Software + drivers installed them-self,
restart then flash the firmware,
check device manager and the GPS was there com 14,
used a rct beta app to test it out and after moving it to from inside to the back garden i locked on to 6 SAT...
So it has a really good GPS built inside,
my satnav only picks up 2 inside, while this picked up 4,
and same outside 6 flickering 7....
Also once you switch to GPS you can turn the radio off to save some battery power...

MC8781 $44 of eBay
used space antenna cables i had but can be bought of ebay for $5-10...

Also if you want to use 3G as well then you will need to buy a sim card holder roughly around $5-10,
the pinouts are on the motherboard,
if you are not that good with a soldering iron take it to a computer store and get it done there,
when i had my Sony done it cost me £10 quick around $15-18....
